I'm going to share what I've written for my character backstories here. Now the only one I've written a backstory for is Laertes but I also have an idea of what I want to do with Zaluraz. Until I get to writing the others, you'll have to contend with Laertes.
Anyway, here's the story behind our broody information broker...
And to finish off this post, I'll share some old art that myself and my friends did a couple years back. His in-game model does not do him justice. He's actually pretty young and rather slender.
Anyway, here's the story behind our broody information broker...
Laertes was born into a family that sought nothing but personal gain out of him. His life was decided for him even before he was given a choice, merely a pawn in their game to gain social status and power amongst the other families within Silvermoon.
He grew defiant when his parents arranged for him to marry into another family so that their name would rise in power, but Laertes outright refused, bringing shame to his family’s name before the other high-ranking members.
His parents grew furious with his rebellion, so much that they punished him for his defiance. They decided to frame him with treason against the kingdom, leading to him being captured and interrogated, tortured for crimes he didn't commit. He tried to plead his innocence but the planted evidence gathered on him was staggering.
He sustained gruesome injuries from his interrogation, but the one method of torture used on him that would forever scar his mind, body and soul was a band of molten heat clamped around his neck. He screamed until he passed out from the shock.
When he woke up next, his sentence of exile was given and he was escorted out the kingdom, never to return again.
Laertes has since taken refuge within the fallen kingdom of Lordaeron, working underground as an information broker, buying and selling secrets, using the very knowledge that brought his life to ruins to his own personal gain.
He still seeks revenge against those that have wronged him. He also wishes to clear his name so that he may return to Silvermoon City without hiding his face. How he decides to go about this remains to be seen, either by soiling his hands with the blood of his family or righting the wrongs done against his name.
