Whispering Forest
The Whispering Forest is a zone located at the Tirisfal Glades, surrounded by hills and mountains, just south of a large unnamed lake.
This land is shrouded in mystery, both in its past and present.
The Highborne (now blood elves) settled there long ago, finding confort in it after being banished from Kalimdor, sadly they did not stay long, as after little time elves started going insane for no apparent reason.
The animals inhabiting the land did not seem to avoid this fate, as only mad deers and a lone White Tirisfal Bear can be found there.
Nested in the heart of this forest is a ring of mushrooms, glowing with some sort of unknown energy, every now and then Fearie dragons “Fey drunk darters” start appearing one by one, once seven of them gather, they will stand around the mushroom circle, and sing, seemingly channeling magic to its center.
Fearie dragons –long allies to the night elves- live primarly in the emerald dream where they patrol and police the nature of the magics being used, because of this they are immune to most spells, they also posses the ability to phase in and out of the Emerald dream, making their job of disturbing any corrupted magic use easier, which would explain their precense in the forest.
Some say they try to purify the land, as their chanting seems to speculate, but if it is indeed like this, they are failing.
Could them being “Drunk” have to do with these? If so, what makes them drunk?
The precense of the fairy circle is also interesting, as they are most popularly known as gates to the fairy word, they say that If you sleep inside of them you get spirited away.
The fairy word in Wow is most likely the Emerald dream, which makes sence, since the fey dragons live there and it is only posible to enter when asleep.
Now, why would there be a gate to the Emerald dream here?
There have been several mentions (all by old gods) of a place called “Ny'alotha” which is described as a sleeping city, which only houses mad beings.
“In the land of Ny'alotha there is only sleep...”
“In the sleeping city of Ny'alotha walk only mad things.”
“Ny'alotha is a city of old, terrible, unnumbered crimes... “ -Whispers from Yogg-Saron
“You will rest in Ny'alotha” –Y’Shaarj
It is highly probable that this place is located withing the emerald nightmare, which is a corrupted area inside the emerald dream.
One thing to know, is that the emerald dream is a direct copy of azeroth, only without the touch of any civilization, this means that a place inside the dream is connected to the version outside of it, and the inside can influence the outside.
Ny'alotha may have some association with a forest as two old gods mention it in whispers:
“The silent, sleeping, staring houses in the backwoods always dream... It would be merciful to tear them down...”
“The giant rook watches from the dead trees. Nothing breathes beneath his shadow”
“There is a little lamb lost in the dark woods...”
“Look around... They will all betray you... Flee screaming into the black forest...”
“When you'll walk among the black forest, you will see.”
It is also posible for it to be in a body of water:
“At the bottom of the ocean even light must die...”
“In the sunken city, he lays dreaming...”
“The drowned god's heart is black ice..”
All of this points towards old gods, yet blizzard did not specify, so what else could it be?
In these whispers a “he” is mentioned, something is sleeping in the Emerald nightmare, something which may or may not be an old god, there is also one whisper which hints to this:
“Have you had the dream again? A black goat with seven eyes that watches from the outside...”
A black goat, with seven eyes, watching from the outside, this outside could be the Emerald dream, or literally outside of Azeroth, maybe something demonic sleeps within the nightmare, but then, why would old gods know of a demonic presence?
There is a conection, something called the “Bloodstone Artifacts” where found in Tirisfal, according to the studies recorded in Belamoore's Research Journal these stones and are neither living, nor dead.
They attract and drink blood, which they seem to be made of, and are fused with all elemental forces (fire, water, thunder and rock) and hide the precense of a deep, hidden, hungry power, yearning for release.
Kegan Darkmar describes them as remnants of the Old Gods and terrible weapons.
The Befouled Bloodstone Orb, described as an arcane magical relic, and its used to conjure demons. Also it's presence is similar to the terrible power the demons held over the orcs when they drank the demon blood.
This means these stones posses both Old god and demonic presence, and were found near the Whispering Forest.
This means something, maybe not an old god, but something still powerful, sleeps within the emerald nightmare, using the forest as a gate, and this being is most likely the one making the fearie dragons “drunk”.
